A job search is tough, but it's especially tough in this job market where there's an abundance of great talent, companies are slimming down trying to do more with less, and there's an emerging technology platform that is AI that is shifting the landscape of recruiting, hiring, interviewing, and even what it means for your career and craft.

I've worked as a recruiter now for more than a decade, working with thousands of candidates, and dozens of hiring managers over the years across tens of clients.

As a Job Search Council (JSC) moderator with the Never Search Alone community (www.phyl.org), I've discovered that there are a lot of misconceptions about recruiting, recruiters, the hiring and interview process.

For many job seekers the job search process can be a frustrating soul-crushing experience; it doesn't help that more often than not, the recruiting, interview, and hiring process is a black-box.

My hope is to shed some light on the process to help job seekers, and hiring managers become more effective in their search as well as managing hiring for their own teams.

My objective here is to help educate job seekers about recruiters / recruiting / recruitment process so that they can partner more effectively with recruiters and manage the job search process and their expectations more effectively. 

A little information in the recruiting process can go a long way in helping job seekers steer clear of pitfalls, maximize their efforts and time, put their recruiters to work for them, and ultimately find the right career opportunities faster.
